Columbia Asia Group, DLFH to develop hospitals

Kuala Lumpur-based Columbia Asia Group of Hospitals on Wednesday announced that its Indian subsidiary, Columbia Asia Hospitals Pvt Ltd, has entered into an agreement with DLF Home Developers Ltd (DLFH) for the development of hospitals.
In the agreement, DLFH would construct Columbia Asia designed hospitals upon lands situated in DLFH townships in India and then lease the lands and hospital buildings to Columbia Asia, it said in a statement.
"The alliance would allow Columbia Asia to leverage the industry leading expertise and experience of DLFH in the development and construction of commercial properties", it said.
DLFH is the residential subsidiary of the recently listed DLF Ltd, India's largest real estate development company. DLF Ltd has 289 million square feet of developed property and an additional 615 million square feet planned.
Columbia Asia Hospitals Pvt Ltd currently owns and operates the Columbia Asia Hospital at Hebbal in Bangalore. It has five additional hospitals under construction in India in Kolkata, Palam Vihar, Patiala, Mysore, as well as in Bangalore and it owns 13 additional locations in India for which it is pursuing building permits. These projects were independent of those to be developed by DLFH, it said.
The Columbia Asia Group is owned by over 150 private equity companies, fund management organisations and individual investors.
